Our Mission is:
* To help those whose lives have become seriously disrupted by alcohol and other drugs become substance free and begin to assume direction in their lives.
* To keep children and adolescents from beginning to use alcohol and other drugs as a means of coping.
Depending on their need, clients may be involved in individual, group, family or couples counseling. In addition to drug use, addiction causes problems in many areas. We encourage our clients to discuss any concerns including relationships, family, school, work and self-esteem. The time spent in counseling and support services vary by individual. Clients are encouraged to stay in counseling until s/he has reached the goals set in partnership with their counselor and until s/he feels more positive about his/her life situation. The average length of treatment is 6 months.
Anyone interested in our services may call or visit to schedule an intake appointment where a counselor will speak with the individual about his/her needs and background. If the individual decides to pursue counseling, an appointment with a counselor is scheduled. During the intake appointment, an assessment is conducted to determine which services will best meet those needs. All counseling conversations remain confidential. An information release form must be signed if the client would like this information released to any person or agency other than Epoch Counseling Center.
Epoch Counseling Center also provides counseling, prevention and drug education to schools at all grade levels. Our counselors perform school-based assessments of students at high risk for addiction and mental health problems, and they conduct groups for those who currently have problems with alcohol and other drugs. In addition, we offer substance abuse education to community organizations.
Most of our funding is through grants from the Maryland State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Administration, Baltimore County Bureau of Substance Abuse, and Baltimore County Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools.
